NBSM Sport Docs at the 2026 CASEM Conference in Kelowna, BC

Sport Medicine Physicians are specialized in assessing, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans for musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and sport injuries. They are also able to provide guidance on preventing injuries and maximizing physical health.

Sport Medicine assessments include taking a thorough history of the injury or symptoms, a focused physical exam, reviewing or ordering imaging as required, and development of a treatment and follow-up plan.

Investigations may include labwork or imaging such as x-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, bone scans, or MRIs if required.

Treatments may include trials of activity modification, exercise prescription, various prescription medications including injections, and referrals to associated professionals as required.

Injections may include:

  • Cortisone
  • Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
  • Prolotherapy
  • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
  • Autologous Protein Solution (APS) or "PRP+"
  • Arthrosamid

At NBSM there are three sport medicine physicians providing expert sport medicine care and ultrasound guided injections:

All three physicians are certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and have additional training in ultrasound guided injections through Sport Medicine Ultrasound Canada.

Dr. Bryan Lemenchick and Dr. Taylor Lougheed are additionally certified by the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM) and are members of the Ontario Medical Associations Section on Sport and Exercise Medicine.

Consultations require a referral from a physician or nurse practitioner. All consultation requests are triaged with appointment times ranging from within a couple of weeks to up to ~4-6 months.

Please note, our sport medicine physicians are unfortunately unable to assess non-sport related concussion or non-sport related chronic neck or back pain
