Our Story

North Bay Sport Medicine was founded in the summer of 2023 with a vision of becoming the first truly multidisciplinary sport medicine clinic in Northern Ontario. In larger city centres it is common to have sport medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, massage therapists, dieticians, etc. all working alongside each other - something that didn't really exist in Northern Ontario.

We started with a dream and a small five person part-time team in a temporary clinic location.

In the spring of 2025 we moved into our newly renovated 3000 sq ft clinic.

By the start of 2026 our team had grown to over 14 dedicated professionals!

We see patients from all over Northeastern Ontario, and are committed to providing expert multidisciplinary sport medicine care in the North.

Education

NBSM supports learners in various professional schools as they start their careers including:

• NOSM University Medical Student Electives

• NOSM University Resident Electives

• Physiotherapy Student Placements

Our capacity to take on learners can fluctuate through the year. Please reach out early in your placement/elective process to ensure capacity.

 

Research

NBSM is proud to be supporting valuable research that advances our collective knowledge, prevents injuries, improves recovery, and maximizes function and performance.
