Sport Medicine Physician (English/Français)

Dr. Lougheed graduated from medical school at Queen’s University in 2012 before completing his training in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2014. He went on to complete enhanced skills training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Ottawa in 2015, and subsequently also achieved certification in Sport and Exercise Medicine in 2017. Prior to moving to North Bay full time at the end of 2019, he lived and worked in Ottawa providing locum family medicine coverage, as well as working in the emergency medicine, sport medicine, and cannabinoid medicine.

Dr. Lougheed has engaged in medical leadership throughout his career, including serving as the Chief of the NBRHC ED and the President of the NBRHC General Medical Staff from 2022-2025. He is an Assistant Professor at NOSM University in the section of Emergency Medicine, and is involved in clinical supervision of medical students and residents. He is passionate about Quality Improvement and Global Health.

He has helped provide event coverage for various sporting events, including:

  • 2017 Red Bull Crashed Ice Championships (Ottawa)
  • 2017 Invictus Games (Toronto)
  • 2018 Skate Canada Synchronized Figure Skating Championships (Oshawa)
  • 2018 Canadian Track & Field Championships (Ottawa)

When not working, Dr. Lougheed can be seen running after his three young boys!

All referrals are internally triaged based on a variety of factors and you will be contacted with an appointment time.
