North Bay Sport Medicine offers a range of services oriented toward supporting teams including:

  • Team Dietitian Sessions

Team Functional Movement Screens (FMS)

Functional Movement Screens look at certain fundamental movement patterns and can help identify limitations and make recommendations that may improve performance and prevent injury.

Our Team FMS is lead by Vickie Grierson and includes ~5 FMS stations at which each athlete will be assessed. A report is then provided to the team trainer and coach to help guide potential corrective movements.

Cost

$50 per athlete, with 10 athlete minimum

Team Dietitian Sessions

Our Team Dietitian Sessions with Tara Blake are designed to support teams as a whole, with the potential for individuals to book personalized assessments if required.

Each session includes age-dependent information including:

  • a review of macro needs
  • a typical plate model
  • snack and meal ideas
  • tournament and game day nutrition

U17 and older includes more details.

Follow-up or additional sessions may include more detail or focus on team-specific needs, including:

  • building lean body mass
  • hydration
  • Iron
  • carb needs/loading for endurance
  • etc.

Cost

U16 and younger: $350 + HST (approximately 60 minutes)

U17 and older: $450 + HST (approximately 90 minutes)

Follow-up sessions (all groups): $350 + HST (approximately 60 minutes)

Packages are available for teams who would like 3 or more sessions.

Pre & Post Participation Physicals

Many universities, colleges, and high level sporting organizations require pre-participation physicals to help flag any health or safety concerns prior to engaging in sports.

At NBSM this involves the completion of a health questionnaire that is reviewed with Dr. Lemenchick or Dr. Lougheed who then perform a focused physical exam and order any necessary tests.

Post-season physicals can help to identify any areas of concern or rehab during the off season and ensure athletes remain in healthy shape for competition and training.

Cost

First Pre-season/post-season physical - $100

Each subsequent assessment if within the last year - $50 per assessment

***If physicals are combined with team FMS screens they are always $50, even if a first visit***

Please note: preseason physicals are not an OHIP-covered benefit. They are not intended to replicate or replace appropriate physical assessments with your family physician, nurse practitioner, or other specialist physicians. They are not intended to replicate or replace age-appropriate screening.
